  • Rob Vega, PGA

    General Manager/Managing Partner

    Rob Vega is the General Manager and Managing Partner of Glen Erin Golf Club. Rob is responsible for the entire facility, including overseeing the golf operations and the Food and Beverage operation. Other duties involve player development programs, outing and league management, accounting and Human Resources for Glen Erin Golf Club.

    Prior to Glen Erin Golf Club, Rob was the General Manager and Head Golf Professional at Kestrel Ridge Golf Club in Columbus. Rob was responsible for growing revenues 20% in each of the years under his control. He also marketed and managed a banquet facility holding 300 people and an 8,000 square foot clubhouse, along with a real estate development. Prior to Kestrel Ridge, Rob served his PGA Apprenticeship at Odana Hills Golf Course in Madison. Rob also played college hockey for the University of Wisconsin from 1997 to 2002. Rob is a Class A PGA member, and is also the recipient of the PGA Apprentice Scholarship and the 2006 Junior Golf Leader of the Year in the Wisconsin Section PGA.

    Food and Beverage Manager

    Tom Ellis is the Food and Beverage Manager of the Cursing Stone Pub. Tom’s duties currently entail managing the daily operations of the restaurant, training and overseeing restaurant and kitchen staff.

    His number one goal is to provide excellent customer service to all of the guests at Glen Erin and The Cursing Stone Pub. Tom joined the team at Glen Erin in 2007. Prior to working at Glen Erin Tom spent over 8 years employed at Spirits Bar and Grill in Janesville, WI gaining knowledge in the food service industry. He currently resides in the Janesville community.

  • Lucas Johnson

    Golf Course Superintendent

    Lucas just recently started with us here at Glen Erin and brings many years of experience along with him. He is responsible for the agronomic practices and environmental aspects of the property. He has worked in the golf and turf industry for 20+ years in different regions and climates to help lead successful operations.

    He graduated from Kishwaukee College in Malta, Illinois in 2002 with a horticulture and turf degree and has had many unique career experiences. His experience has consisted of stints in the Chicagoland area, California, Hawaii, and Milwaukee area. More recently he was part of the initial grow-in at Sand Valley Golf Resort and then on to Wild Rock Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells where he was the superintendent.

    Lucas is passionate when it comes to playability of the golf course and enjoys the natural habitats that golf courses provide. If you see him on the golf course, you may see his sidekick Mo’ana by his side. She is his 2 and ½ year old Bernese Mountain dog.

  • Matt Kersten

    Director of Golf / Head Golf Professional

    Matt joins the Glen Erin family with more than 10 years of experience in the golf industry. He was most recently the Head Golf Professional at the Janesville Country Club the last three years. He is a graduate of Southwest Technical College in Fennimore, WI with an Associate Degree in Golf Course Management and became a PGA Member in 2016. His lowest score is a 69 and he has been lucky enough to have 4 holes-in-one. One of his favorite golfers is Tiger Woods because of how he has changed the game of golf forever for the better after winning the Masters in 1997. He put the sport on the map.

    During his free time, Matt enjoys attending and watching Packers and Badgers football & basketball along with Cubs games.

    He is passionate about the game of golf and all aspects of it and brings a wealth of experience with him. He enjoys seeing people come out whether for fun or competiton.

  • Michael Tabbert

    Director of Instruction

    Mike Tabbert is the Director of Instruction at Glen Erin Golf Club. Mike was born and raised in Janesville, WI and has returned Glen Erin where he was the Head Golf Professional from 2012 to 2016. In 2016, he moved to The Beloit Club in pursuit of his true passions: teaching and club fitting full time. He accomplished this while developing the Ironworks Golf Academy. It became the region’s premier golf academy. Mike has returned to Glen Erin with his sights set to build another premier golf academy at Glen Erin Golf Club!

    Mike is a PGA Golf Professional with over a decade of experience teaching golfers of all ages, skill levels, and experience. Mike’s expertise is in the biomechanics of the golf swing. This allows him to create the most efficient and consistent golf swing for each of his students based on their physical attributes and swing style. Mike is a TPI Level 3 Certified Coach in golf, power training, & junior development, Certified in K-Motion 3D and Boditrak Ground Mechanics, and completed Penn State’s Golf Biomechanics Certification. Finally, Mike has been awarded the Wisconsin PGA 2023 Youth Player Development Award and the 2022 and 2023 Golf Fitness Association of America Award for golf fitness services.

    Mike’s passion is to help each student reach their personal goals, shoot lower cores, and have more fun playing the great game of golf!

  • John Havlis

    Executive Chef

    Chef John brings over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Throughout his career he has served as Executive Chef, Director of Restaurant operations and Chef Owner of the acclaimed Christophe Restaurant. John apprenticed at Le Vichyssoise, a small country French restaurant in Lakemoor Illinois under Bernard Cretier. There he learned classic French preparations as well as service etiquette and the discipline to excel in a demanding restaurant environments.

    He studied at The University of Wisconsin Stout Hotel and Restaurant Management program and then went onto The Restaurant School of Philadelphia, Professional Chef Training Program where he graduated with honors. His background has taken him to many prestigious properties and private clubs in the United States including the PGA Sheraton Resort and Montezinos restaurant Palm Beach Florida, The Fountain Restaurant Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, “Le Prince Restaurant” Swiss Grand Hotel, “Le Nomades” and Charlie Trotters Restaurant, Chicago. Closer to home he spent time in the Lake Geneva area as Executive Chef of The Geneva Inn and the Hunt Club Steakhouse. He is also the recipient of many accolades and awards including “Chef of the Year” American Culinary Federation, a James Beard Award winner as well as media exposure in Chicago Magazine, Zagat and North Shore Magazine to name a few. John has a passion for the hospitality industry and enjoys teaching, mentoring and cooking.

    In his free time, he enjoys snow skiing, fly fishing, traveling and dining.

  • Katy Cook

    Katy Cook is Glen Erin's Event Coordinator and Marketing Manager.

    Katy grew up in a small town in Illinois with only one stop light in the entire county. After college she moved to Wisconsin and began her career in events.

    According to Katy, attending parties for a living is no small task, but she loves every part of it. With over 11 years experience in event planning she has coordinated international conferences to upscale weddings.

    She is ultra-passionate about making each event spectacular for the customer. Much of the fun is to help assemble the puzzling party pieces for each client all while making memories that last a lifetime!

    Katy considers herself somewhat of an old soul and enjoys a good documentary or reading the newspaper. One of her favorite quotes by David Tutera is "Celebrate life every day as if it was a celebration". She has a love for movies, country music, and a good cup of joe - you will rarely ever find her without a coffee cup in her hand.
